Happy Father's Day!

I don't say it often enough, but we are so lucky to have Dads!  My husband is a wonderful dad who loves his little girls with all his heart!  My dad is an amazing dad who has put up with me and loved me unconditionally for 30+ years!  My Grandpa is one of the most wonderful men I know...humorous, loving and oh so talented with fixing things!

Today I was lucky enough to spend at least a little time with my hubby and girls, sister and her family plus my dad and mom at a local concert in the park.  It was a very nice way to spend the afternoon and I hope that we can do it again this summer!  I wish I had gotten a shot of the family, but I never seem to think of it at the time.  Here is Sweet Pea playing with her Grandma though:

The most amazing thing about the last two photos is that they masterfully hide Sweet Pea's hideous eye (Grandma's photography skills at work there).  Her right eye was a little goopy on Friday, but we thought that it was just the first sign of a cold.  It got worse on Saturday and by Sunday we had no doubt that it was something much more serious.  We took her to urgent care and sure enough...she has pink eye!  Lovely!  The timing could not be worse on this!  We avoided her getting sick when Lily and I were caught by a lovely bug, but somehow she picked up pink eye!  We had our surgical pre-op for ear tubes on Friday and were given the green light...now I have to call them on Monday and find out if they will still do the surgery.  If not, then we have to wait and try to keep her healthy again...doing it (well, I guess we have to say almost doing it) once was hard enough!  So now we are having to sit on Sweet Pea with her limbs pinned down and try to get drops in her eyes with her fighting tooth and nail four times a day for ten days!  Oh, and in both eyes because her left eye is starting to show signs of it now too!  Trying to keep Angel, Daddy and I from getting it is a whole other hassle.  I am so frustrated, but I have to keep reminding myself that things could be worse.

Here is a picture of what her eye looked like yesterday when it wasn't too bad:

And she wanted to do a close up apparently:

Wish me luck tomorrow with finding out if we can still do ear tube surgery on Wednesday!

To end on a happier note...a cute story about Sweet Pea...

Some day this week while Daddy was at work, Angel was starting to fuss as she laid in the pack n play (it's a semi Sweet Pea safe location aside from the toys that get launched into it). Sweet Pea was playing with her flash cards, as she often is, and found the Daddy card and brought it over to Angel and tossed it in to her. It was like she was saying, "Daddy always makes me feel better so hopefully he can make you feel better too sister." It was so sweet!  Sweet Pea loves her Daddy and considers me chopped liver when compared to him.

Happy Father's Day!

  1. Aww...I hope her eye is looking better and that you can go ahead with the ear tubes. Very cute story too! I can totally relate to items getting launched into cribs too. We're forever finding new discoveries at nap time, lol!
