Sweet Pea Still Loving Flashcards

Sweet Pea's eye is still awful and she spiked a quickly rising fever tonight (jumped up to 104 pretty fast) and I'm glad that I gave her Tylenol at 102!  I'm hoping that tomorrow things start to look better.  Luckily, this morning she was in good spirits and once again she pulled out her box of flashcards.  There were only 3 that she didn't get this morning so it's definitely time for me to get the next set laminated!

Don't feel obligated to watch the whole video.  I love that she was making so many sounds with each card and she was doing it even more the first run through without the camera on.

It is great that she loves these cards so much!  I hope that she enjoys the next steps in the See and Learn program just as much!

Semi-Wordless Wednesday: Earning Her Keep

Sweet Pea's ear tube surgery was postponed. Had to take her back to the doctor yesterday and they said that she probably has hemorrhagic conjunctivitus. The great news was that the pure red areas on her eyes weren't the result of me scratching her eye during the struggles to get drops in! The even better news...we got to stop the drops! They switched us to an oral antibiotic because she also had a small ear infection starting. Yippee!!!! I don't like that she is on antibiotics again, but at the same time, we weren't making any progress with those drops and at least she takes the oral antibiotics pretty easily. So, we have to get her healthy and then keep her healthy until July 6th when the surgery has been rescheduled for.  Get better soon Sweet Pea!!!  Your sister and friends miss you!

These photos are a couple of weeks old, but too cute not to post. She is showing Mom what to do since it's clear Mom doesn't know how to keep a house clean!

Random Photos

I'm frustrated today...Sweet Pea's eye looks awful and I'm hoping that I didn't scratch it or something during one of the struggles to get the eye drops in.  She also spiked a fever this afternoon and is currently at 102.  It just feels like we can't get a break with her!  I'm even more certain that our surgery will be canceled now, but I guess I'll know in 24 hours.

And I'm not very smart because I've decided to try to get Angel to sleep through the night during this already trying time! In my favor I had made this decision before Sweet Pea got sick and now I don't want to back off. I feel like we are making progress because Angel is not needing to be fed during the night (after the twilight at 10pm), but she is still awake and crying two times a night. Last night the first wake up only took 30 minutes of awful crying and I'm hoping tonight it will be even better. The other one was at 5am and didn't go as well...can't win them all. Let's hope tonight is better since I think Sweet Pea will be needing our attention more.

With all that...I need to do a pick me up post...I think my medicine of choice will be some cute photos of our two little girls.

Happy little Angel:

Our own natural disaster:

Sweet Pea is working on climbing into the Pack N Play (her feet are up on the base and she is holding on with all her might with her arms:

Angel notices and is deciding if she should be worried:

Yummy toes!

Looks like she would rather have her privacy while chomping on her toes:

Look who's getting bigger!  Too bad she spits up EVERY time we put her in the Bumbo for a few minutes.

Happy Father's Day!

I don't say it often enough, but we are so lucky to have Dads!  My husband is a wonderful dad who loves his little girls with all his heart!  My dad is an amazing dad who has put up with me and loved me unconditionally for 30+ years!  My Grandpa is one of the most wonderful men I know...humorous, loving and oh so talented with fixing things!

Today I was lucky enough to spend at least a little time with my hubby and girls, sister and her family plus my dad and mom at a local concert in the park.  It was a very nice way to spend the afternoon and I hope that we can do it again this summer!  I wish I had gotten a shot of the family, but I never seem to think of it at the time.  Here is Sweet Pea playing with her Grandma though:

The most amazing thing about the last two photos is that they masterfully hide Sweet Pea's hideous eye (Grandma's photography skills at work there).  Her right eye was a little goopy on Friday, but we thought that it was just the first sign of a cold.  It got worse on Saturday and by Sunday we had no doubt that it was something much more serious.  We took her to urgent care and sure enough...she has pink eye!  Lovely!  The timing could not be worse on this!  We avoided her getting sick when Lily and I were caught by a lovely bug, but somehow she picked up pink eye!  We had our surgical pre-op for ear tubes on Friday and were given the green light...now I have to call them on Monday and find out if they will still do the surgery.  If not, then we have to wait and try to keep her healthy again...doing it (well, I guess we have to say almost doing it) once was hard enough!  So now we are having to sit on Sweet Pea with her limbs pinned down and try to get drops in her eyes with her fighting tooth and nail four times a day for ten days!  Oh, and in both eyes because her left eye is starting to show signs of it now too!  Trying to keep Angel, Daddy and I from getting it is a whole other hassle.  I am so frustrated, but I have to keep reminding myself that things could be worse.

Here is a picture of what her eye looked like yesterday when it wasn't too bad:

And she wanted to do a close up apparently:

Wish me luck tomorrow with finding out if we can still do ear tube surgery on Wednesday!

To end on a happier note...a cute story about Sweet Pea...

Some day this week while Daddy was at work, Angel was starting to fuss as she laid in the pack n play (it's a semi Sweet Pea safe location aside from the toys that get launched into it). Sweet Pea was playing with her flash cards, as she often is, and found the Daddy card and brought it over to Angel and tossed it in to her. It was like she was saying, "Daddy always makes me feel better so hopefully he can make you feel better too sister." It was so sweet!  Sweet Pea loves her Daddy and considers me chopped liver when compared to him.

Happy Father's Day!

Makeout Session!

I thought Sweet Pea was a little young to be meeting boys behind the bleachers at school...apparently not!  After she had finished her lunch she ran off to make out with one of her boyfriends.  She started by climbing under the table after him to give him a hug and then it got a wee bit more serious...

Full embrace kissing!

"Uh oh...looks like we were busted..."

"I don't know what you moms are looking at.  We're not doing anything...just hanging out..."

Oh boy am I going to have my hands full when we reach the teenage years if she keeps this up!  I know this is payback for my actions as a teenager...sorry about that again Mom and Dad!  :-)

Sisterly Love Continues

I absolutely adore how much in love my two daughters are with each other!  Sweet Pea always wants to see what Angel is doing and make sure she is okay and Angel lights up when she sees Sweet Pea.  I can only imagine the trouble that these two are going to cause, but it will be fun to watch!

Here is a little glimpse into their relationship...you will see it starts with a little gentle abuse and then turns into loves...the best part is about 37 seconds into the video!  Sweet Pea wasn't too fond when Angel got a hold of her hair though!

Sweet Pea was so interested in the camera today that I thought it would be interesting to see what her view of the world would be.  I was quite impressed that she captured her sister so well!  I'm wondering if it was just luck, but I'll take it either way!  I hope you don't get motion sickness from watching this video, but Sweet Pea's laughter is too adorable to miss!

Today we went over to Auntie R's house and enjoyed a nice lunch together.  Auntie R and Uncle R haven't seen Angel much so it was nice to spend a little time together.  Angel really has a thing for Uncle R!

And finally, I'm a little afraid of what teething is going to be like with Angel.  She already gnaws at my hand all the time and the pediatrician says that there aren't even any pre-teething signs in her gums!  Yikes!

Red Letter Day for Mommy!

I'm still a little sick and certainly more than a bit exhausted...but all of that disappeared this afternoon when I heard the most wonderful sound ever...Sweet Pea was looking at the thank you card that her Cousin O had just given her...

She was looking at me and did the sign for mommy and then said "Mama"!  I couldn't believe my ears, but I definitely heard it.  I practically had tears in my eyes but it didn't end there...

She then signed baby and I said that yes, that was Angel.  I then pointed to Sweet Pea and she patted her belly and said the first syllable of her name too!

Now this isn't the first time that she has said either...Daddy heard both before, but it was an evening about 2 weeks ago when I had left to go to a training.  She had said it while looking at a personal book that Grandma had made her with photos of all of her family.  When Daddy called me on the phone to tell me about it, she wouldn't repeat them (she's not one for performing on demand).

So now that I am floating on air...I'll get down to my original idea for a post today...

Sweet Pea has been making HUGE messes of her toys recently.  I took this photo of the aftermath on Friday...

The photo is okay, but it doesn't show the flair and commitment with which she destroys a room.  Daddy captured this on video today...

And another skill that she mastered today...twisting the yellow and red knobs on the pop up toy!  The green one pushes down and she has had that for months and months.  She can only do the blue and purple in one direction.  Earlier in the week she was working on the yellow and was twisting the whole toy in an attempt to get it to work.  Today she did it correctly all on her own!  And then I showed her the same skill could be used on the red one and she did it again and again too! Here is a video of her showing off her new skills...

Obviously we couldn't be more proud of our little Sweet Pea!

Photo Friday: Sweet Pea's Favorite Visitors

Sweet Pea had two of her favorite visitors come over on Wednesday for a little play time.

Thanks Cousin O and Cousin C for making Sweet Pea's day!

Thank you also to Grandma K who came down to meet Angel!  I can't believe that I didn't get any photos of you with the girls!  I guess it just means that you will have to come visit us again soon!  Love you!

Angel - The Pterodactyl

These days we have our very own dinosaur in the house!  Angel is sick (mainly a cold and an ear infection) and she has shown us that she is definitely a product of both her Mommy and Daddy.  When Angel is healthy she has the amazing ability of voice projection...just like her Auntie R (Daddy's side).  However, when she is sick she gets the same sick voice as her Mommy when she is sick...much to her daddy's dismay.  Take a listen to this video and you will see what I mean.

We are very lucky that she has been quite happy while she has been sick and she seems to enjoy her new voice.  I hope she isn't too sad when it disappears on her!

Let's hope we both get healthy soon!!!!
